Destinations: Chennai – Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry – Thanjavur – Tiruchirappalli – Madurai – Rameshwaram – Madurai – Kanyakumari
Day 01: Chennai – Mahabalipuram
On arrival in Chennai, begin your journey to Mahabalipuram via Kanchipuram. Visit the famous Sri Kamakshi Amman temple, Sri Ekambareswarar temple and Sri Kailasanathar temple. After darshan, Enjoy a delicious lunch on direct payment basis.. Later on, proceed for Mahabalipuram. On arrival at Mahabalipuram, check into your hotel. After resting for a while, visit the shore temple – it has shrines of Shiva and Vishnu. Next, visit Arjuna’s Penance and Krishna’s Butterball. Later on, visit Five Rathas which have been carved out of monoliths and each one is associated with one of the Pandava brothers. After an eventful day, return back to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 02: Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry
After an early breakfast, proceed to Pondicherry via Tiruvannamalai. Visit the Arunachaleswar Temple, one of the jyotirlinga(the fire incarnation of God). After darshan, depart for Pondicherry. On arrival, check into the hotel, in the afternoon, proceed to the Promenade beach in Pondicherry and spend time relaxing at the beach. You’re also free to visit the Nehru street market. Return to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 03: Pondicherry
After breakfast, visit the Auroville City, an experimental township – one which would be incomprehensible unless seen in person. Next, visit the famous Sri Aurobindo Ashram founded by the great Bengali philosopher, Sri Aurobindo, in the early 20th century. Later, visit the Vinayaka temple. In the afternoon, enjoy boating in the Chunnambar backwaters and relax on the beautiful beaches of Pondicherry. Return to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 04: Pondicherry – Thanjavur
After breakfast, proceeds to Thanjavur via Chidambaram visit the famous Nataraja temple- it is one of the five Shaivite Mukti Sthalams. After darshan, depart for Thanjavur. On arrival, check into the hotel. After lunch, proceed for a sightseeing tour. Visit the famous Brihadeshwara Temple and later visit the Thanjavur palace. In the evening, return to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 05: Thanjavur – Tiruchirappalli
After breakfast, proceed to Tiruchirappalli. On arrival, check into the hotel. After a fulfilling lunch, visit the Ranganathaswamy Temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Later, visit the Rock Fort temple at the top of the hill from where one can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city. Return back to the hotel in the evening for a peaceful overnight stay.
Day 06: Tiruchirappalli – Madurai
After breakfast, embark on a journey to the temple city of India – Madurai. On arrival, check into the hotel. After lunch, visit Meenakshi temple-one of the biggest temple complexes in India. It is an ancient centre of worship as well as an art gallery of megalithic proportions. Later on, enjoy a delicious lunch on direct payment basis. After a day of exploration and piety, return to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 07: Rameshwaram Excursion
After an early breakfast proceed for a full day excursion to Rameshwaram, a very important pilgrim centre of the Hindus and also one of the most sacred places in India. The temple has 22 holy springs which are believed to have medicinal properties. After darshan, visit the Ghanthamathana Parvatham which provides a fine view of the island. Later, visit Dhanushkodi. After the visit, enjoy a delectable lunch at a local restaurant and take a return journey to Madurai. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel in Madurai.
Day 08: Madurai – Kanyakumari
After an early breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Kanyakumari. Kanyakumari was named so after goddess Parvati, in one of her incarnations as Devi kanniya, did penance on one of the rocks in this beautiful land of greenery and blue waters, to obtain the hand of Lord Shiva. On arrival in Kanyakumari, check into the hotel. Relax for some time and then pay a visit to Sri Kumari Amman Temple. After darshan, visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar statue. Enjoy your boat ride to this beautiful memorial spot. In the evening, return to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 09: Departure
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed for Trivandrum Airport/Railway station for your onward journey.
