South India Beach Tour
Duration: 13 Nights / 14 Days
Destinations: Chennai – Kanchipuram – Mamallapuram – Chennai – Kodaikanal – Thekkady – Kottayam – Cochin – Trivandrum – Kovalam – Trivandrum
Day 01: Arrival in Chennai
On arrival in Chennai, meet our representative and get transferred to the hotel. Rest of the day at Leisure for independent activities. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Chennai – Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram
After breakfast will proceed for Chennai city sightseeing including Fort St George, Government Museum, Valluvar Kottam, Snake Park, Kapaleeswarar Temple, Santhome Cathedral, and drive along the marina Beach.
After lunch proceed to Kanchipuram visit the Ekambaranathar temple, Kamakshi Amman Temple and shop for the world famous Kancheepuram Silks. Later proceed to Mahabalipuram. Check in Beach Resort for overnight stay.
Day 03: Mahabalipuram – Chennai – Overnight Train
After breakfast visit the historical sites of the sea side resort of Mahabalipuram: “City of Seven Pagodas”. The ancient Pallava port of Mamallapuram and its 7th century rock hewn monuments, magnificent rock temples and carvings transport you to the yesteryears. Visit the Five Rathas (chariots) ceremonial chariots, rock cut monoliths, named after the 5 Pandavas heroes of the Mahabharata epic and Draupadi their wife.
Depart Mamallapuram in the evening to reach Madras. Proceed to EGMORE rly. Station to board pandiyan Express – overnight train journey.
Day 04: Kodaikanal
Reach Kodai Road railway station in the early hours and thereafter proceed to Kodaikanal (7-8 hrs. journey) by road. Check-in at hotel and day free for leisure/personal activities. Evening enjoy boating in the Lake. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 05: Kodaikanal
Morning after breakfast , proceed for a sightseeing tour visiting the Bryant Park, Shenbaganur, Pillar Rocks, Coaker’s Walk, Silver Cascade, Kodaikanal Lake and the Dolphin’s Nose. Overnight stay at the resort in Kodaikanal.
Day 06: Kodaikanal – Thekkady (periyar)
Post breakfast drive to Thekkady, popularly known as Periyar – a land full of cardamom and spice plantation and home to one of the largest wildlife reserves in India. On arrival, check into the resort and relax. Later you may go for a short sightseeing/shopping there. Overnight stay at the hotel in Thekkady.
Day 07: Thekkady
Morning boat rides in Periyar Lake to watch the wild animals in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Later day free for your own activities – you have the option for many activities like trekking, Ayurvedic massage, Kathakali Dance show, Kalaripayattu show, etc. Overnight stay at the hotel in Thekkady.
Day 08: Thekkady – Kottayam – Cochin
Post breakfast drive to Kottayam. Take a boat cruise in the palm fringed scenic back waters. Reach Cochin in the evening. Check in hotel and stay overnight.
Day 09: Cochin
After having the breakfast, proceed for sightseeing of Cochin Covering Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, Jewish Street, St. Francis Church and Chinese Fishing Nets. Evening visit Cherai beach and overnight stay at Cochin.
Day 10: Cochin – Kumarakom Backwaters
Arrival at Cochin and proceed to Kumarakom. Check in at the backwater resort and rest of the day at leisure. Try some boating and sunset cruise in Kumarakom backwaters. Or visit Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. Overnight at Kumarakom.
Day 11: Kumarakom – Alleppey Houseboat
By noon check in to the houseboat in Kumarakom for cruising through legendary backwaters of Kerala to Alleppey. On the way you will witness a full range of lives and activities and some mind boggling sceneries. Overnight in the house boat. House boat is a private boat with fully furnished spacious bath attached bed rooms, hygiene kitchen, dining area and private front deck to capture the beauty of the backwaters.
Day 12: Alleppey – Kovalam
After breakfast checkout from the houseboat and proceed to Kovalam, the internationally renowned beach destination. Overnight stay at the beach side hotel.
Day 13: Kovalam
Full day at leisure at Kovalam. Spend the day in the sandy beaches of Kovalam flanked by coconut groves on one side and Arabian Sea on the other.
Day 14: Kovalam – Trivandrum
Today visit Napier Museum and Sri Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Trivandrum and proceed to airport / railway station for onward journey.
