Cefixime is an oral third generation Cephalosporin antibiotic.

It is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat infections caused by bacteria. These include infections of the Ear (otitis media) Nose, sinuses (sinusitis), Throat (tonsillitis, pharyngitis), Chest and lungs (bronchitis, pneumonia), Urinary tract infection.

The bactericidal action of cefixime is due to the inhibition of cell wall synthesis.
