Amlodipine Tablet is a calcium channel blocker, which is used to treat angina (chest pain) and high blood pressure. It affects the movement of calcium into the cells of heart and blood vessels. Through that process, it relaxes blood vessels and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart & also reducing its workload. High blood pressure overloads the heart and arteries. If this scenario does not change, the heart and arteries starts showing signs of dis-functioning, which can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, kidneys & could result in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. High blood pressure also increases the risk of heart attacks. All these problems are less likely to occur, if the blood pressure is controlled.
