To accelerate the dispersion in the foaming medium, the Silicone Defoamer should be diluted to any required concentration prior to use, the preferred method being adding of water to the emulsion and not vice versa. While dilution, excessive shear should be avoided. Pre process testing is recommended. Silicone Defoamer is more effective in alkaline conditions. Silicone based defoamers are polymers with silicon backbones. Delivery of this Silicone Defoamer may be as an oil or a water based emulsion. The silicone compound consists of an hydrophobic silica dispersed in a silicone oil. To ensure the faster spreading of silicone in the foaming medium, emulsifiers are added.
