Ajwain Seeds are native to Middle East and Egypt, but now mainly grown in South Asia. Ajwain is a medicinal herb, used for both culinary as well as therapeutic purposes. Ajwain Seeds are used in the Indian and Middle Eastern dishes in whole and roasted form which enhances the flavor of the food. In South Asia, Ajwain Seeds are also used to cure indigestion, low appetite and other related problems. These are used in the preparation of curries and curry powder. Ajwain Seeds go well with fish and meat dishes. These are available in both whole as well as powdered form.
Medicinal Use
Bishop's weed is widely recommended for medicinal purposes like as a calming herb to ease intestinal colic, stimulating the appetite, treatment of diarrhea, bronchitis, bronchial asthma and in laryngitis as a gargle. Another main use has been to increase milk. It is an ingredient in mouthwashes and toothpaste because of its antiseptic properties.
